A Matariki Story
Once long, long ago lived seven
little tui. They were playing outside and their mother said to stay near
the tree so when it was dark they wouldn't get lost.
One
day, they weren't as close to the house as they
normally were and, when the sun fell, the moon started to rise. The moon wasn't
shining as bright as the sun normally did, but it shone like the glistening
sea's edge on a great winter's night. Owls hooting filled the night then
the seven little tui showed goosebumps as they became more frightened through
the night.
It got darker and darker and colder and colder then soon all the
tui drifted off to sleep.
In the morning, they weren't in the forest anymore. All they saw
was the moon and the stars because the moon had taken them up into the sky
during their sleep. The moon used its special powers to take kids who didn't
listen to their parents and turn them into stars.
That is how Matariki came to be.

The Forest Friends
Cole and Daryl were best friends. They loved to go to the forest
that was only a three minute walk away. On sunny days, they hated being inside the
hot, hot house.
One great autumn afternoon, Cole and Daryl decided that they
would go into the forest to explore.a Rosella and a
dove were resting on a tree branch when they got there. They wanted to see what they were going to
do.
Instead of staying on the path they were in an unrecognisable place. Owls cooing filled the air with echoes then they herd a totally different sound fill the air. It was a happy hopping bunny family and then Cole and Daryl started to follow them. At first they thought the bunnies were leading them in circles, but then they saw the tree where the kite got stuck.
They yelled out, "Mum, Dad"hopefully then they heard,'' yes,yes where are you ''
There mum had come looking while dad was still snoring his head off.
''we're over where our kite got stuck'' called the boys.

From Jamling Tenzing
To all the children of St. Paul's primary school, greetings from the Himalayas.
I know you have been following John and our journey to the to roof of the world. I hope you learned something about our mountains and culture.
I invite you all to join me one day to visit our part of the world.
Hi I'm Paige my class and I loved to read the stories about when you and John hiked to base camp, and I would like to try climb Mount Everest if you'll still let me, when I'm older.
Jamling Tenzing Hi Paige. It is our pleasure to share a part of our history and culture. I hope you will be able to experience it first hand when you visit in the years to come.

Magic Show
We were all on the floor of our hall watching the first magic show of the day. The magician's name was Jonathan Usher.
We all sighed, "Oh, wow!'' as Jonathan crushed the can, then the can re-opened and it poured out the drink again.
The most exciting trick was when Jonathon got a piece of rope and took the ends off, and he was left with a circle piece rope, then he put the ends back on and it was back to normal.
Jonathan's tricks were so clever, we laughed in class.
Next, it was the second magic show of the day. It was familiar. It was the El Gregoe show and it came with a message. It was to have a bully-free school combined with magic. We were learning as well as laughing at the same time. It was interesting and funny at the same time.
The coolest and dangerous trick was when Sue, El Gregoe's assistant, performed the floating man trick. We all gasped in excitement.
