A Matariki Story

Once long, long ago lived seven little tui. They were playing outside and their mother said to stay near the tree so when it was dark they wouldn't get lost.
One day, they weren't as close to the house as they normally were and, when the sun fell, the moon started to rise. The moon wasn't shining as bright as the sun normally did, but it shone like the glistening sea's edge on a great winter's night. Owls hooting filled the night then the seven little tui showed goosebumps as they became more frightened through the night.
It got darker and darker and colder and colder then soon all the tui drifted off to sleep.
In the morning, they weren't in the forest anymore. All they saw was the moon and the stars because the moon had taken them up into the sky during their sleep. The moon used its special powers to take kids who didn't listen to their parents and turn them into stars.

That is how Matariki came to be.

The Forest Friends

Cole and Daryl were best friends. They loved to go to the forest that was only a three minute walk away. On sunny days, they hated being inside the hot, hot house.

One great autumn afternoon, Cole and Daryl decided  that they would go into the forest to explore.a Rosella and a dove were resting on a tree branch when they got there. They wanted to see what they were going to do.
Instead of staying on the path they were in an unrecognisable place. Owls cooing filled the air with echoes then they herd a totally different sound fill the air. It was a happy hopping bunny family and then Cole and Daryl started to follow them. At first they thought the bunnies were leading them in circles, but then they saw the tree where the kite got stuck.
They yelled out, "Mum, Dad"hopefully  then they heard,'' yes,yes where are you ''
There mum had come looking while dad was still snoring his head off.

''we're over where our kite got stuck'' called the boys.

Magic Show

We were all on the floor of our hall watching the first magic show of the day. The magician's name was Jonathan Usher.

We all sighed, "Oh, wow!'' as Jonathan crushed the can, then the can re-opened and it poured out the drink again.
The most exciting trick was when Jonathon got a piece of rope and took the ends off, and he was left with a circle piece rope, then he put the ends back on and it was back to normal.
Jonathan's tricks were so clever, we laughed in class.

Next, it was the second magic show of the day. It was familiar. It was  the El Gregoe show and it came with a message. It was to have a bully-free school combined with magic. We were learning as well as laughing at the same time. It was interesting and funny at the same time.

The coolest and dangerous trick was when  Sue, El Gregoe's assistant, performed the floating man trick. We all gasped in excitement.

Pentecost

The Church is people spreading the Good News about Jesus.
Before Pentecost, the followers of Jesus locked themselves in a room because they were scared that they would get killed like Jesus.
All of a sudden, the Holy Spirit appeared in the form of fire and wind. The Holy Spirit gave them courage. They were now brave enough to go out and begin spreading the Good News. This day was called Pentecost. It was the birth of the Church.

Home

In the holidays, my mum and I went to the movies.
When we got there, it was 6 o'clock. We had to buy our tickets. It was so hard, because there were so many movies to choose from, but we knew not to pick 'The Hunt for the Wilder people' without Dad.
We finally came to a decision and got tickets to see the movie, 'Home.' As we stepped into the theatre, it was as black as the sky at midnight, without the stars in the sky and we saw these comfy soft chairs.
As we sat down, it was very peaceful. The main character was a little purple alien called Oh and sometimes during the movie, Oh had makeup on which made Mum laugh.
It was really fun to watch the movie with my mum. My mum is the best in the world. I would have no other mum but her.

Zoo Day

As our class ran through the door, this beautiful peacock came running wonderously towards us.
Our  class were at Hamilton Zoo because we'd filled up our marble jar and now we had to investigate if a zoo is a good place for animals.

We stood still, admiring its beautiful colours then we carefully crept towards it. I felt scared because it might have bitten me. When I got close enough to stroke it, its feathers felt lushishly smooth. A lady told us that the peacock's enclosure was the whole entire zoo, except for the other animals' enclosures. The peacock showed us lots of wonderful colours - blue, green, yellow, pink and purple. It was amazing. When it spread its tail, it looked like there were lots of eyes glaring at me. I loved it because, when its tail opened, I felt a wind, and the colours on its tail showed gold, blue, green and black. As it opened slowly, it was gorgeous. Its tail covered its neck which looked about one metre tall, then it walked a little closer. I walked slowly and quietly. It loved being stroked.
I enjoyed going to the zoo and I would go again because it was so enjoyable.

Who St Patrick was and what he liked doing and what he didn't like doing

He liked walking on the beach. He liked whittling his slingshot.
He hated school.
One day,

When he was a little boy he didn't go to school.  He was stolen and sold as a slave. He was a Shepard to sheep and swine as he grow older. He climbed on to a ship then a storm came and put them aground and they were in France.

Swimming Sports 2016

Thursday was swimming sports. I had three races. In one, I was the only 9 year old in that race so I raced the 8 year olds. I came third in all of them. The races I did were freestyle, breastroke and back stroke. It was really fun. My dad, Sharna and Jarell were there. When my cousin Rhegan was swimming, she came 2nd, 3rd and 2nd again. After that, we had the junior races. It was Sarah's turn. She did really well. She got 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th.
After that, we had free time. I got to dive off the deep end of the pool. I swam as fast as the wind to the other end of the pool.

The Rocket

As I anxiously stepped on the rocket, it wobbled like a long strip of jelly on top of the waters edge. I ran as fast as the wind. I slipped and flew like a bird head first into the sparkling silver-like water.
Yesterday, my whole class went to our last day of swimming. We went on the rocket. I did make it half way . It was super long. Red, blue and white was the colour of it.
At first, I was afraid and then it was fantastic. It felt like I was soaring through the air like a bird. Splosh! Splash! the water went as I bombed in. It felt like one thousand ice cubes grabbing onto my skin.On my last turn, I got so close to the end.

World of Maths

Thump! Thump! Thump! Monday was the World of Maths. I led a group. My group was Ella, Ava, Ashton and Sienna. The person who had golden-like hair set the whole thing up. Her name was Kath.
My group started with, "How many feet?" then we moved on with another activity. My group's favourite one was the monkey.

Year of the Monkey

sshin-nyen kwhy-ler.

Happy Chinese New Year.
2016 is the Year of the Monkey.

Swimming 2016

Splash! Splosh! Once we jumped into the pool, we all screamed. Some of us went underwater because we wanted our hair wet. We kept going under the water until our coaches, Ashley and Shinade, said that we had to do backstroke.
We started by doing big circles with our arms on our backs to the other end of the pool. I had to stand a few times. I got to the end, third.
